2001年5月，在同濟(jì)大學(xué)努力建設(shè)國際知名的、綜合性、研究型、高水平大學(xué)的進(jìn)程中，同濟(jì)大學(xué)傳播與藝術(shù)學(xué)院應(yīng)運而生。本院依托同濟(jì)大學(xué)這所百年名校的學(xué)科優(yōu)勢和地處上海市這座國際大都市的區(qū)位優(yōu)勢，緊密追隨當(dāng)代國際傳播、藝術(shù)、技術(shù)前沿，牢牢把握“藝術(shù)”與“傳播”日益融合的大趨勢，確立了以新媒體傳播理念為導(dǎo)向，以新媒體藝術(shù)與技術(shù)融合為抓手，打破傳播學(xué)與藝術(shù)學(xué)的傳統(tǒng)壁壘，培養(yǎng)具有“扎實理論基礎(chǔ)、國際化視野、創(chuàng)新創(chuàng)作能力、中國文化特色”的新媒體傳播與藝術(shù)領(lǐng)域的實用性、復(fù)合型高級傳播與藝術(shù)人才。

        傳播與藝術(shù)學(xué)院的學(xué)科設(shè)置主要基于新媒體藝術(shù)創(chuàng)作與技術(shù)、新聞傳播理論與實務(wù)，包括新型傳播與社會研究、廣告創(chuàng)意與創(chuàng)新研究、電子傳媒與新聞研究、新興科技與出版研究、視覺文化研究、計算機(jī)動畫與視覺特效研究、交互媒體研究、數(shù)字影音研究、非平面影像研究等多個研究領(lǐng)域。學(xué)院擁有新聞傳播學(xué)、藝術(shù)學(xué)兩個一級學(xué)科碩士點，以及藝術(shù)碩士專業(yè)學(xué)位點，設(shè)有廣告學(xué)、動畫、廣播電視編導(dǎo)、廣播電視新聞、攝影等5個系和本科專業(yè)。

        目前，學(xué)院在校本科生600余人、研究生100余人。現(xiàn)有教職工59人，專職教師43人。其中，教授8名、副教授10名、碩士生導(dǎo)師22（含電影學(xué)院和音樂系）。此外，聘請了美國邁阿密大學(xué)李聰博士、德國包豪斯大學(xué)（Bauhaus University）的Jans Geelhaar教授、意大利博洛尼亞大學(xué)（Bologna University）Giacomo Manzoli教授、德國國際著名的影視藝術(shù)家王小慧教授、中央電視臺楊金月教授、鳳凰衛(wèi)視邱震海博士等一批國內(nèi)知名學(xué)者和藝術(shù)家擔(dān)任客座或兼職教授。

      學(xué)校高度重視學(xué)院教學(xué)科研平臺建設(shè)，在嘉定校區(qū)投資建設(shè)了傳播與藝術(shù)學(xué)院大樓，總建筑面積達(dá)13000多平方米，又投資6000余萬元建設(shè)一流的教學(xué)科研平臺。目前學(xué)院擁有演播室、虛擬演播室、汽車攝影棚、放映廳、原動畫實驗室、非線性編輯實驗室、數(shù)字動畫實驗室、數(shù)字音效工作站、電子媒介實驗室、美術(shù)教學(xué)中心、平面影像實驗室、媒資系統(tǒng)、圖書館藝術(shù)分館、新媒體藝術(shù)館等公用資源平臺，計算機(jī)動畫與視覺特效實驗室、交互媒體實驗室、數(shù)字影音實驗室、非平面影像實驗室等專業(yè)科研平臺。還設(shè)有電子報E-Catch編輯部、大學(xué)生影像工作室等大學(xué)生創(chuàng)新基地。

     傳播與藝術(shù)學(xué)院積極開展國際合作與交流，與德國包豪斯大學(xué)、意大利博洛尼亞大學(xué)、臺灣世新大學(xué)等聯(lián)合開展“雙學(xué)位碩士”培養(yǎng)以及教師互訪講學(xué)計劃，與英國西敏斯特大學(xué)、德國奧芬巴赫設(shè)計學(xué)院、香港城市大學(xué)、臺灣昆山科技大學(xué)等開展互派學(xué)生交流學(xué)習(xí)計劃以及教師互訪講學(xué)計劃。

      近幾年，傳播與藝術(shù)學(xué)院教師在教學(xué)與科研方面取得了一系列可喜成績。課程《圖形創(chuàng)意》、《動畫運動規(guī)律》獲得國家級精品稱號，《創(chuàng)新工程學(xué)》獲上海市重點建設(shè)課程以及同濟(jì)大學(xué)精品課程；獲國家教學(xué)成果二等獎1項，獲上海市教學(xué)成果獎一等獎1項、二等獎1項；承擔(dān)國家級以及省部級科研項目23項，出版專著教材25部，發(fā)表高水平論文104篇。在國內(nèi)外各類競賽中，傳播與藝術(shù)學(xué)院學(xué)生獲得國家文科計算機(jī)一等獎、全國大學(xué)生廣告藝術(shù)大賽一等獎等獎勵2002項。

The College of Communication and Arts was founded in 2001 as part of the effort in shaping Tongji University into a high-level, international, and comprehensive research university. Benefit from the academic strength of Tongji and the international metropolis position of Shanghai, our college is able to stay in the frontier of contemporary development in communication, art and technology. We believe in the concept of integrating communication and arts into a comprehensive field of education, we set the new media – based communication and the new media art and technology integration as our focus, and we aim at cultivating multidisciplinary talents in communication and arts with solid theoretical foundation, international vision, innovation and creativity, as well as good comprehension of Chinese culture.
 

 The academic development at our college is around two main directions, 1) New Media Art Creation and Technology and 2) Journalism and Communication Theory and Practice. Sub-directions include Communication and Social Studies, Advertising Creativity and Innovation, New Media in Communication and Journalism, New Technology in Publishing, Visual Culture Studies, Computer Animation and Visual Effects, Interactive Media, Digital Audio and Video, and Non-planar Imaging. We have three master programs, Master of Art, Master of Fine Art, Master of Communication, and five undergraduate majors, Advertising, Animation, Audio/Video Art, Broadcast Journalism, and Photography.
 

 Currently, our college has more than 600 undergraduate students and 100 graduate students. We have 59 faculty and staff members. Out of the 43 full-time faculty members, there are 8 professors, 10 associate professors, and 22 master advisors. Additionally, many well-known scholars and artists are working as our visiting or adjunct professors: Dr. Li Cong from University of Miami, Professor Jans Geelhaar from Bauhaus University, Professor Giacomo Manzoli from Bologna University, well-known photo artist Xiaohui Wang, Professor Yang Jinyue from CCTV, and Dr. Zhenhai Qiu from Phoenix TV.
 

 We got strong support from the University in the development of our teaching and research platform. A college building of 13,000 square meters was built on Jiading campus, more than 60 million Chinese RMB were invested in the equipment and lab setup. Public platforms currently in use or under construction include: professional broadcasting studio, virtual broadcasting studio, car photographing studio, theater, animation lab, non-linear editing lab, digital animation lab, digital audio workstations, electronic media lab, art teaching center, print digital image room, media information system, library arts branch of the university library, and the new media art gallery. Also under development are four research labs, Computer Animation and Visual Effects Lab, Interactive Media Lab, Digital Audio-Visual Lab, and Non-planar Imaging Lab. In order to support student activities, we also set up two innovation platforms, the E-Catch editorial office and the student video production studio.
 

 Our college is active in international collaborations. We have double-degree master programs with Bauhaus University, BolognaUniversity, and Shixi University. We also have various types of student and faculty exchange programs with University of Westminster, Offenbach School of Design, City University of Hong Kong, and Kun Shan University.
 

 A series of achievements have been made in recent years by our faculty members. The course “Graphic Creation”, “Principles of Animated Movement” are awarded the title of national best courses. The course “Innovation Engineering” is awarded the title of Shanghai key development course and Tongji best course. We also won one second prize of National Teaching Achievement, one first prize and one second prize of Shanghai Teaching Achievement. 23 national and provincial scientific research projects are carried out in our college. 25 books and 104 papers written by our faculty members are published. In various national and international competitions, students from our college have won 2002 prizes including the first prize of the national computer competition for liberal arts majors and the first prize of the national college student advertisement competition.
